The Allure of the Transfer Portal

For a player with Furman's talent, the portal offered a direct pathway to test his skills against Power Five defenses. His proven track record at Kennesaw State made him an attractive prospect for programs looking to bolster their quarterback rooms with experienced, athletic talent.

LSU's Strategic Acquisition

LSU, under head coach Brian Kelly, has been proactive in utilizing the transfer portal to strengthen its roster. While the Tigers' quarterback room was led by Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels, the need for robust depth and competitive backups is always paramount, especially in the demanding SEC. Furman's commitment provides LSU with an intriguing option. He brings a different dimension to the position, offering another mobile quarterback who can extend plays and contribute with his legs, a skill set that has proven highly effective in modern college football.
